The Mauritius Ocean Classic surfski race which takes place on one of the best downwind courses in the world. This event is an ICF Ocean Racing World Cup race. It is one of the best races of the World Series, since its first edition in 2009.
Due to the covid-19 pandemic, the Organizing Committee has decided to postpone this years edition of the Mauritius Surfski Week which was scheduled from 21st to 27th of June 2020.
The race starts in front of Tamassa at Bel Ombre, in the South of Mauritius, and finishes at Le Morne beach. The course runs parallel to the coastline out to the seaward side of the Coral reef, through the Ambulant pass and finishes at Le Morne. The distance is 20km. The predominant wind is the Easterly Trades, blowing consistently between 12-25 knots each day.
There is also a race that is run inside the reef race (13.5km): the Investec Mauritius Ocean Classic insider that takes place on the same day. The course runs inside the lagoon parallel to the coastline of Bel Ombre, St. Martin, Baie du Cap and Le Morne villages. Finish is at Le Morne beach, the same finish area as for the outside reef race.
